Journalism ExtraClass – Writing & Interviewing Basics, Beginner Level Writing & Interviewing Skills + Journalism GK.
This course is for someone who has absolutely zero knowledge about journalism. It’s a beginner course. Perhaps you have a calling or desire to tell a story, write about issues in your community or share your opinion on a topic. This course can help lay some ground work for you to get started.
Find something to write about. Think about weather or not other people would care about the topic. Is it something other people might be interested in? Then write about it. Make sure you write a good title that tells people what your story is about. Then write a good intro that grabs the readers attention. Make an outline for what your article is going to be like. You’re priority should be getting the reader to understand what you’re saying, so make sure it has a logical progression. Think about what type of article you’re writing. Is it a feature article? A news story? A human interest story? Or an opinion article? Decide what type of article you’re writing. Make sure you remain, objective, truthful, and honest in your writing. Think about if what you’re writing is factually correct and relevant.
Whenever you write about something make sure you have done your research and what you’re saying is correct. You might need different sources to verify this. One of those sources might be an interview. When you interview someone always be sure to be polite, ask relevant questions, be conversational, and exercise some control over where the overall conversation is heading. Be sure to take notes, and carefully review your interview recording afterwards.
In a nutshell, that’s all this course is about.
